Pear and ginger combine perfectly and mixed with the GF coconut crumble it’s delicious. It’s very easy to make and only takes a few ingredients.
It’s a great idea to add to your gluten-free pear recipes.
Ingredients
The ingredients of the dessert are:
- Pears: ripe medium pears.
- Ginger: fresh ginger. Use a spoon to peel ginger.
- Lemon: We need one lemon juice.
- Butter: unsalted cold butter.
- Gluten-free flour: you can use the gluten-free flour you desire. This recipe takes gluten-free all-purpose flour and coconut flour. You may have to change the amounts according to the flour you choose. You can use gluten-free rolled oats too.
- Almonds: ground almonds (or almond flour) for the crumble and chopped almonds to end up the dessert
How to make pear crumble
Preheat the oven to 350° F.
Place the cubed pears, grated ginger, and lemon juice in a baking dish and lightly mix. I used a round glass baking dish.
Process the flour with the very cold and diced butter until crumbs form (you can also use your hands if you don’t have a food processor).
Mix them with the sugar and ground almonds (almond flour).
Place the crumble on the top of the fruit and sprinkle with chopped toasted almonds (optional).
Cook for 30-35 minutes or until the cover is well browned and crispy and the pears are bubbling.
Serve it warm with a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream.
Variations and serving suggestions
- Coconut flour: can be replaced with another GF flour. You can also replace 1 cup of GF flour with GF old-fashioned rolled oats.
- Fruit: You can make this dessert with apples, plums, or peaches. They’re all delicious!
- Dried fruits: use a different one and change the flavor. Feel free to use walnuts, almonds, or pecans.
- Toppings: Serve the dessert with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream, which is highly recommended.
- Regular pear crisp: replace GF all-purpose flour with all-purpose flour.
Storing
Store the dessert covered in the fridge for 3/4 days. Don’t recommend freezing, it’s not the same, but If you freeze it, when you are ready to enjoy it, reheat the crumble in the oven for 10 minutes.
