Warm or cold, with a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream, pear crisp is a dessert that everyone loves. It’s the perfect fall treat like this GF apple blueberry crumble.
This homemade GF pear dessert is very easy to make and only takes a few ingredients. The juicy, tender, and warm filling mixed with the crisp, golden topping is delicious!

Ingredients
The main ingredients of this easy pear dessert are:
- Flour: gluten-free all-purpose flour and almond flour.
- Pears: ripe medium pears. Choose ripe but firm pears; they must keep their shape during baking.
- Ginger: fresh peeled ginger.
- Lemon: fresh lemon juice.
- Butter: unsalted cold butter.
- Spices: ground cinnamon, but feel free to play with the spices.
How to make this easy fruit crumble
Preheat the oven to 350° F (180°C).
Place the peeled, seeded, cubed pears, grated ginger, lemon juice, and 2 tablespoons of sugar in a baking dish and lightly mix. Set aside.
With a food processor: process the gluten-free all-purpose flour, sugar, ground cinnamon, and cold diced butter until crumbs form.
By hand: In a medium bowl, mix the diced cold butter, sugars, gluten-free all-purpose flour, and almond flour. Rub together with your fingertips until it resembles breadcrumbs.

Place the crumble on the top of the fruit.
Cook for 40 minutes or until the cover is well browned and crispy and the pears are bubbling.
Serve it warm with a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream.
Storing
Store the dessert covered in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days. You can freeze the crumble in an airtight container, reheat the crumble in a medium oven.
Top tips
- Pears: choose ripe but firm pears; we need them to maintain their shape but soften enough during baking.
- Sweetness: adjust to taste the sweetness of this dessert with less or more sugar in the filling.
- Crumble: the butter must be cold when mixing, and the oven must be completely preheated when baking the dessert.

Variations and serving suggestions
- Fruit: add some berries to the filling, like blueberries or raspberries, to add flavor.
- Dried fruits: use a different one and change the flavor. Feel free to use walnuts, almonds, or pecans.
- Spiced: feel free to play with spices. Add nutmeg, cardamom, and cloves for a warm flavor.
- Toppings: Serve the dessert with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream, which is highly recommended.
- Regular pear crisp: replace GF all-purpose flour with all-purpose flour.
