Gluten-Free Apple Crumble with oats (easy & crunchy !)

Easy GF Apple Crisp is a favorite fall dessert! The warm apples mixed with the oat topping are delicious! Super easy to make, and it is highly recommended to serve it warm with a scoop of ice cream.

Ingredients
  

  • 6 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled, seeded, and chopped
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 cup gluten-free old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 3/4 cup gluten-free all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, diced and cold
  • Almonds or walnuts (optional), chopped and toasted

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
  • In a medium bowl, place chopped, peeled apples, sugar, cinnamon, cornstarch, and lemon juice. Mix and transfer to a 9'' baking dish or similar.
  • In another bowl, mix gluten-free oats, gluten-free all-purpose flour, sugar, and remaining cinnamon. Add the diced cold butter and rub it with your fingertips until crumbs form. Or place all the ingredients in a food processor.
  • Place the mixture in the baking dish over the apples and sprinkle with chopped toasted almonds or walnuts (optional).
  • Bake for 40/50 minutes or until golden brown, and the apples are bubbling.
  •  Serve warm with a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream.
