Ingredients
This recipe takes 3 ingredients:
- Strawberries: fresh strawberries.
- Sugar: granulated sugar.
- Lemon: fresh lemon juice.

How to make this strawberry topping
Place chopped strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice in a deep saucepan and heat over medium heat until boiling, stirring occasionally with a wooden spoon. You can also add 1 teaspoon of lemon or orange zest for a strong citrus flavor.
Reduce the heat and cook for 15-17 minutes more, stirring occasionally. When the sauce is thickened, remove from the fire and let cool at room temperature. Keep in mind that the sauce will thicken slightly as it cools.
